Moondara Street Park in Tarneit has been granted a new lease on life, courtesy of an upgrade worth $1.2 million from Wyndham City.
The update brought with it an array of features, such as two playgrounds with equipment suitable for both junior and senior play, nature play areas, a half–court with basketball and netball hoops, picnic facilities and BBQ, upgraded pathways, a new circuit path connection, seating, landscaping upgrades and public toilet facilities.
Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard expressed his delight at the transformation, noting the importance of providing local families with nearby open spaces. He thanked the residents who gave their feedback during the community consultation process, which helped shape the park‘s future.
The official opening of the upgraded Moondara Street Park was celebrated on Saturday with a free BBQ and coffee, followed by food trucks and a screening of the Bollywood hit Barfi! in the evening.
Cr Maynard added that Wyndham City is investing $19.8 million in 2022/23 to create new and improved parks, open spaces and streetscapes so that residents can get out of their house, enjoy nature and be active.
