Emergency services were called to reports of a child trapped in playground equipment in Point Cook earlier this evening.

A 10-month-old boy had his right foot trapped between the foot bars of a piece of playground equipment shaped like a ladybug.

The playground equipment had to be cut to release the child.

The incident occurred shortly before 7pm on Wednesday 9th of February at a playground on Kingsford Drive in Point Cook.

The playground equipment needed to be cut in order to free the child who was then assessed at the scene by Ambulance Victoria.

Wyndham City Council were advised that the equipment was taped off by police and that the equipment needed to be assessed.

One of the parents in the area stated that he was always concerned that this might happen to a smaller child given the design of the equipment.
