New traffic signals for Shaws Road
Wyndham City Council has announced a $10 million investment to upgrade the intersection of Shaws Road and Tarneit Road in Werribee as part of the Connecting Wyndham program. The project aims to deliver a safer, more efficient, and connected transport network for both residents and visitors.
Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2026.
The upgrade will include:
Traffic signalisation – converting the Shaws Road intersection to a fully signalised arrangement.
Additional lanes on Tarneit Road – two in each direction before merging back into the existing configuration.
Pedestrian and cycling improvements – enhancing existing linkages to improve accessibility and safety.
Council says the project will deliver several key benefits, including improved road safety through new traffic signals and safer pedestrian and cycling routes, reduced travel times and congestion due to optimised traffic flow and additional lanes, and enhanced accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, encouraging healthier and more sustainable travel options.
