The incident began at around 11:10 am when officers, waiting for a tow truck on Greenshank Court in Werribee, spotted a suspicious black Isuzu MU-X wagon. As police approached, it is alleged the vehicle fled, colliding with the tow truck during the escape.

Westgate Highway Patrol officers tracked the Isuzu to St Margarets Court in Tarneit, where the two teenagers, along with a 23-year-old man, allegedly abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. All three were arrested nearby at approximately 11:25 am.

Investigators believe the vehicle was stolen from Grovedale on Christmas morning.

The 15-year-old driver, from Little River, has been charged with several offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, failing to exchange details, using fraudulent plates, and possessing a controlled weapon. He has been bailed to appear in a children’s court at a later date.

The 13-year-old boy, also from Little River, received a caution for theft of a motor vehicle.

A 23-year-old man from Hampton Park has also been charged with vehicle theft and cannabis possession and will appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 24 June 2025.

Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
