14-Year-Old Arrested in Stolen Car Chase

A male teenager has been arrested in Werribee after allegedly committing burglary and evading police in a stolen car last night.

It is alleged a silver Audi A5 sedan was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Werribee on 22 August.

Police observed the stolen car allegedly travelling at speed throughout Footscray and Sunshine on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers attempted to intercept the car, but the driver allegedly failed to stop and drove away.

It is believed the male drove towards Geelong before allegedly committing a burglary at a George Street address in Newtown about 5pm.

A male resident returned home during the incident and witnessed the male flee from the residence.

Geelong police then observed the car allegedly travelling at 140km/h on Thompsons Road in North Geelong and began following the car towards Werribee.

The Police Air Wing assisted officers on ground who successfully deployed tyre deflation options on Pine Avenue about 7.30pm.

The driver exited the moving vehicle and jumped over a fence while the car continued to role before crashing into a nearby fence.

A 14-year-old male was arrested shortly after by the Dog Squad in a yard off Beamish Street.

The Werribee teenager was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, robbery, obtain property by deception, evade police, reckless conduct endangering life, drive at a speed dangerous, dangerous driving whilst pursued by police and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded overnight to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
