Young Learner Driver Faces Consequences After Traffic Violations
A 16-year-old learner driver is currently dealing with legal repercussions after being caught in a series of traffic violations during an incident that occurred on August 9, 2023. The incident, which took place at approximately 4:15 pm, has resulted in the temporary impoundment of the young driver’s vehicle and potential court proceedings.
The situation unfolded when the police Airwing unit observed a white Holden sedan traveling at a high speed on Tarneit Road in Werribee. The officers used an aerial camera to track the vehicle and followed it to a specific address within the Werribee area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Westgate Highway Patrol engaged with the 16-year-old learner driver. A subsequent investigation revealed that the young driver was operating the vehicle without a required accompanying driver and was also missing the mandatory L plates.
As a result, the teenager is expected to face charges for these violations, as well as other related offences.
In addition to the legal consequences, the sedan involved in the incident, which was registered under the learner’s name, has been impounded for a 30-day period. This action serves as a reminder of the potential outcomes of irresponsible driving behaviour.
The young driver has been summoned to appear before the Werribee Children’s Court on a later date to address the charges and provide an explanation for his actions.
