Concerns escalate as Rhys Hutchinson, a 38-year-old resident of Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, has been missing since February 18, 2024. Described as approximately 180cm tall with a slim build and Caucasian appearance, Hutchinson has brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, dark grey shorts, and black runners.
Family members, particularly his sister Alycee, express deep worry over his disappearance. Alycee mentioned, “he usually keeps in close contact with myself, each of my siblings and my mum but we are quite concerned now as we have heard nothing, he left his phone, wallet at home.” Hutchinson was last sighted around midday on Monday near Links Road, close to the family home and Darley Golf Course. While he typically wanders around Bacchus Marsh during his long walks, he occasionally ventures towards the city and beyond.
The last confirmed sighting of Hutchinson was in Bacchus Marsh, specifically Grant St., last Tuesday afternoon. There’s a possibility of his presence in Manor Lakes last Thursday afternoon and a suspected interaction in Yarraville on Saturday, February 24th. Family and friends are actively working to narrow down these leads.
Notably, Hutchinson did not have his phone or wallet with him, a behavior consistent with his frequent long hikes with minimal belongings. There is a belief that he may have headed towards the city or beyond. Authorities have been alerted, with police, train stations, and hospitals engaged in the search effort. A Facebook page has been established to aid in gathering crucial information.
Rhys Hutchinson’s disappearance has prompted a plea from his family, urging anyone with information to come forward. Alycee emphasized, “We just want to know that he is ok & want him to know that he is very much missed & loved, especially by his niece & nephews.” City workers are also urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings to the authorities promptly.
