A massive new retail hub, anchored by Coles, is coming to Mambourin! With shops, dining, and services, the $60 million marketplace will redefine convenience and lifestyle in Melbourne’s booming west by 2025.

Mambourin, located in the rapidly expanding West Melbourne growth corridor, is set to welcome a full-line Coles supermarket at the heart of the new Mambourin Marketplace. Developed by Frasers Property Australia, this $60 million project will be a key feature of the masterplanned Mambourin community, providing much-needed retail, dining, and service options to the area.

Maben Group has been appointed to construct the centre, with work already underway following a recent sod-turning ceremony. Once completed, Mambourin Marketplace will offer approximately 7,500 square metres of retail space, including a Coles supermarket with a Click and Collect service, medical and pharmacy tenancies, and up to 25 specialty stores. These will range from fresh food providers and grocers to cafes, beauty services, and specialty food outlets.

As the first stage of a larger Town Centre retail precinct, Mambourin Marketplace will eventually expand to encompass around 25,000 square metres of retail space. Future plans include a potential adjoining train station, business district, and community facilities such as a new school.

Sarah Bloom, General Manager of Development Victoria at Frasers Property Australia, emphasised the significance of securing Coles as the anchor tenant. “The addition of Coles highlights the growth potential and future prosperity of Mambourin. With construction already in progress, we’re excited to bring the Mambourin Town Centre vision to life for our community,” she said.

The Mambourin Town Centre, set to open by Q3 2025, will also benefit from the proposed new train station and the anticipated opening of Good News Lutheran College’s P-12 campus in 2025. Mambourin Marketplace aims to be the social and commercial hub for the area, offering a diverse mix of dining options, specialty stores, and health and wellbeing services.

Coles Head of Leasing for Victoria, Tim Roberts, expressed enthusiasm for the new supermarket’s role in the community. “This is a fantastic opportunity for Coles to provide a modern and convenient shopping experience to Mambourin residents and neighbouring suburbs, both in-store and online,” he said.

Designed by award-winning architect Clarke Hopkins Clarke, Mambourin Marketplace will be a 5-Star Green Star environmentally conscious building, featuring sustainable design elements. It will also include a landscaped urban plaza with a children’s play area, community artwork, and event space. Additional facilities will cater to cyclists, with end-of-trip amenities such as showers and bike storage.

The Council-approved masterplan for the retail precinct includes a childcare centre, operated by Aspire Early Learning, a petrol station, and fast-food outlets along Black Forest Road. The precinct is expected to serve a Main Trade Area population of approximately 93,000 residents by 2036.

Upon completion, the Mambourin community will be home to over 3,300 new residents, making Mambourin Marketplace a vital part of the region’s continued growth and development.

This exciting development is set to transform Mambourin and the broader Wyndham Local Government area, one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, ensuring the community has access to essential services and a vibrant social hub for years to come.
