Matt Guy’s Liberals and Nationals Government has announced that Goddard Street Reserve in Tarneit will receive a $700,000 upgrade.
The Goddard Street Reserve sporting fields are well-used, but are reaching capacity during the day, and do not accommodate users after dark.
This commitment will see the installation of flood lighting for the oval to allow for Wyndham Suns Football Club to expand, while extending their gametime and training into the evenings.
The funding will also go towards the development of a new turf wicket, meaning the Tarneit Central Cricket Club can bring in more players and further training for national and international competitions.
Additionally, a new netball court will be greatly welcomed by the community, given a distinct lack of facilities across Tarneit.
Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, David Southwick said the announcement will deliver better sporting facilities on the community’s doorstep.
“The installation of lights, new wickets, and a netball court will see more people taking advantage of these spaces and increase sport participation.”
“The Liberals and Nationals are hugely invested in supporting grassroots community sport across the state, and our announcement here in Tarneit is part of that.”
Liberal Candidate for Tarneit, Preet Singh, said this was an excellent commitment for the Tarneit community.
“Tarneit has grown rapidly and is expected to continue at this pace well into the future. These facilities are needed now and will service those future residents.”
“Our team will work with the community to provide better opportunities for players of all ages.”
