An Artistic Way To Express Wellbeing

Wyndham residents will be invited to pick up a paintbrush and help create a new blue tree in Werribee as part of World Mental Health Day on 10 October.

Wyndham City is hosting a free Blue Tree Project event at Glen Devon Park, bringing residents, local mental health services and support organisations together to encourage conversations around mental wellbeing.

The Blue Tree Project is a community initiative that sees trees painted blue as a visible reminder to speak openly about mental health, check in with others and seek support when it is needed.

Residents attending the Werribee event will be able to help create Wyndham’s own blue tree, take part in activities, enjoy refreshments and learn more about mental health services available locally.

Potential For Learning And Connecting

Wyndham Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said creating opportunities for conversations about mental health was important for the wider community.

“Good mental health and wellbeing are important for everyone. Creating opportunities for open and honest conversations is one of the most important things we can do as a community.”

“The Blue Tree Project is a powerful symbol of hope, connection and support. It reminds us that it’s okay to ask for help and that no one should feel alone when facing mental health challenges.”

Cr Shaw said World Mental Health Day was also an opportunity for residents to check in with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.

The free event will run from 10am to 12pm on 10 October at Glen Devon Park, 2 Golden Avenue, Werribee.
