Air Wing Aids in Capture of Werribee Man Charged with Stolen Vehicle and Burglary in Melton West

Arrest on Myrtle Crescent Werribee

Detectives from the Western Region Crime Squad have successfully charged a 19-year-old man from Werribee following his discovery in what is believed to be a stolen vehicle in Melton West on April 5. The incident unfolded when police officers spotted the Haval Station Wagon, reportedly stolen and fitted with cloned number plates, on Coburns Road around 12:20 pm.


In a coordinated effort that included the support of the Air Wing, police tracked the vehicle as it moved to Myrtle Street in Werribee. It is reported that the driver vacated the vehicle and was subsequently apprehended inside a residence shortly thereafter.

The charges laid against the young man include burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a drug of dependence. Following these charges, he has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear before the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on June 6.
