Major Makeover Moves Closer
Werribee South Beach is set for a nearly $3 million makeover after Wyndham councillors unanimously awarded the construction contract for the first stage of long-planned upgrades at their 14 July Planning Committee meeting.
Council approved a $2.99 million contract to Ace Landscape Services Pty Ltd to deliver the first stage of the Werribee South Beach Masterplan, which aims to improve access and visitor facilities along one of Wyndham’s most popular coastal destinations.
The project will include a new shared walking and cycling path, upgraded solar-powered lighting and a timber viewing platform overlooking Grahams Wetland Reserve and the Werribee River estuary. Construction is expected to begin in September, with works scheduled for completion by June 2027.
Councillors unanimously endorsed the contract, with Cr Jasmine Hill describing the project as an exciting investment in one of Wyndham’s most loved natural attractions.
She said the upgrades would make it easier and safer for residents and visitors to enjoy the beach and surrounding environment.
“Werribee South is one of Wyndham’s most unique and treasured assets,” she said.
“People can connect with nature, spend time at the beach with family and friends and develop an even greater appreciation for our coastline and wetlands.”
Six companies submitted tenders for the project, with Ace Landscape Services achieving the highest overall evaluation score after being assessed on price, capability, experience and delivery methodology. The contract is funded through Council’s adopted 2026–27 capital works budget.
