
Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested three men in an area well known by many locals as ‘The birdcage” following the discovery of a cannabis crop in Werribee on 15 December.
Several officers, detectives and the canine unit surrounded the car-filled property on Parrakeet Road, checking over fences nearby before finally entering the house.
The trio were arrested in Parrakeet Road just after 6.30pm with assistance from the canine unit and the airwing.
One of the men involved attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by police. Another was dropped to the ground outside the property before being taken to the police station.
.A 31-year-old man is being charged with 80 offences and two men, aged 40 and 41 have been charged with cultivating narcotics (cannabis) and both one count of committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
