ANMF Members Rally for Fair Pay as Aged Care Giant Proposes Meagre 2% Increase After Initially Offering 0%
Members of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), employed as nurses, personal care workers, and midwives at Bolton Clarke, have escalated their protected industrial action today on Heaths Road in Werribee, demanding respectful and fair wage increases.
The protest began at 1.00 pm and is continuing until 3.00 pm on Heaths Road, near the Glendale Aged Care facility. The action comes in response to Bolton Clarke’s initial offer of a 0% wage increase. The company has since proposed a one-year agreement with a 2% pay rise for some of the lowest rates in Victoria, along with a new, lower pay rate scale for new employees.
The ANMF is advocating for improved working conditions and a minimum 4% wage increase to align with the pay rates of more competitive aged care providers.
As the protest continues, the union members hope to draw attention to the need for better wages and conditions, highlighting the crucial role they play in the care and wellbeing of the elderly and vulnerable in the community.
