Absolute Shocker

Illegal dumping along Boundary Road near Tarneit and Truganina has reportedly reached the point where piles of rubbish, building waste and potentially hazardous debris are making access increasingly difficult.

Household rubbish, building materials, chemicals, shattered glass, nails and other debris have allegedly been repeatedly dumped along the road and nearby access roads for about six months.

Residents claim vehicles have suffered repeated punctures, while some delivery drivers and couriers are refusing to use affected access roads.

Rubbish is also reportedly blowing across surrounding farmland, with dumped material making it difficult for local farmers to move large machinery through parts of the area.

Concerns have also been raised about potentially hazardous waste and whether contamination could affect nearby rainwater supplies.

The dumping has reportedly been raised with relevant councils, with residents claiming rubbish remains despite more than two months of investigations.

Locals who regularly travel along Boundary Road are now being asked to check dashcam or CCTV footage for vehicles, trucks, trailers or utes potentially dumping waste in the area.

Anyone with information or footage showing illegal dumping can report it to EPA Victoria on 1300 372 842 or the relevant local council.

EPA Victoria accepts reports involving construction, industrial and chemical waste, while dumped household rubbish on council land can also be reported directly to the relevant council.

People should not confront suspected dumpers or attempt to handle potentially hazardous material.
