Awesome Comeback Completed In Style
Wyndham Warriors rider Jordan Morgan has completed an incredible comeback, winning a BMX world title three years after breaking his neck while racing.
Morgan claimed first place in the 35-39 men’s cruiser class at the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane last month, having returned to racing with just 12 weeks’ notice.
He had spent three years away from competition following the injury and said crossing the finish line in front was difficult to comprehend.
“For me, the feeling of crossing the finish line in front was very surreal. I had 3 years away from racing and came back on 12 weeks notice,” Morgan said.
“I broke my neck racing 3 years ago and never thought I would come back to a high level of racing never mind win something I tried so many times to do in the past.”
The victory also continued a family legacy in the sport. Morgan’s father won a BMX world championship in 2014, with Morgan saying they are the first father and son to both win world titles.
Far From Only Shining Light
“My dad also won a word championship in 2014 in BMX so it was a great feeling to be the first father son to both win world titles,” Morgan said.
Morgan said BMX had long been something his family enjoyed together, with his father, sister, daughter, nephew, friends and brothers-in-law all racing at one point.
He was one of four Wyndham Warriors riders to record strong results at the championships.
William Lees finished fourth in the 25-29 men’s cruiser class, Noah Merrit placed 13th in eight boys and Michael Scragg finished 26th in masters men.
Morgan hopes his success encourages people of all ages and abilities to get involved in BMX.
“I hope to inspire kids and adults to always do your best, work hard never give up and take care of your body and you never know what you might achieve. Health is wealth.”
Morgan is currently looking for sponsorship partners to support his racing.
