Chaos in Werribee: Man Arrested After Burglary, Assault and Knife Threats

A 52-year-old man is in custody following a shocking afternoon of burglary, assault, and knife threats in Werribee

Police arrested a man following an aggravated burglary and assault in Werribee on Saturday, 27 April. The incident reportedly occurred when the man entered a house on Cottrell Street around 2:30 pm, but was interrupted by a neighbour.

The man is said to have assaulted the neighbour and then ran to a nearby house a few doors away. At this second location, he allegedly threatened the occupants with a knife before fleeing.

A neighbour informed the owner of the first house that his two dogs were seen in the street accompanying the man. Upon returning home from work, the owner found the man with his dogs and wearing some of his clothing.

Armed burglar arrested

The homeowner also reported to Wyndham TV that the man threatened him with a knife. The suspect was apprehended on Werribee Street shortly afterwards.

The assaulted neighbour, a 20-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the second house were not physically harmed. The suspect, a 52-year-old man of no fixed address, is currently assisting police with their investigations.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV/dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
