Man charged with threats, visa and bail breaches
A 38-year-old Sudan-born man is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today, 2 October 2025, after being charged over multiple alleged breaches of visa and bail conditions.
The Australian Federal Police charged the man at Werribee Police Station yesterday, 1 October, following an investigation into his activities between 19 and 29 September 2025.
It is alleged the man breached conditions of his Commonwealth visa by failing to maintain a required monitoring device on three occasions.
He has also been charged with using a carriage service to make a threat to kill, and a separate charge for threatening to cause serious harm — offences which carry penalties of up to 10 and seven years’ imprisonment respectively under Commonwealth law.
Additional charges include obstructing a Commonwealth official, committing indictable offences while on bail, and breaching conduct conditions of his bail.
Each of the bail-related offences carries a maximum penalty of up to three months’ imprisonment and/or a $9,900 fine.
The man remains in custody ahead of his scheduled court appearance.
