More than 16 firefighters responded to a hazmat incident at the Pacific Werribee shopping centre in Hoppers Crossing today.
FRV and CFA crews were called to the incident on Heaths Road at 11:40 am after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a strong smell.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find a chemical leak had occurred at a dry cleaning premises causing a reaction.
Wearing breathing apparatus and HAZMAT equipment, firefighters are working to contain the leak and will remain on the scene to safely ventilate the premises.
Some patrons within the premises were evacuated as a precaution.
Three patients were transported to hospital in the care of Ambulance Victoria Paramedics.
FRV is also working alongside Victoria Police and CFA at the scene.
