Approximately 20 firefighters, including specialist Hazmat crews, are responding to a suspected chemical leak in Truganina.
An FRV spokesperson advised that FRV and CFA crews were called to the Nitton Drive incident about 8:20am after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a strong vapour.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a chemical had spilled from a drum into a contained area, and evacuated 40 people.
Hazmat crews are on scene working to mitigate the spill.
FRV is working alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene.
