Shine a Light on Unsung Heroes: Nominate for the 2025 Wyndham Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards
Wyndham City is calling on its residents to recognize the unsung heroes in their community by nominating them for the 2025 Wyndham Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards. These awards aim to celebrate individuals who make valuable contributions to the city and its residents.
According to Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera, now is the perfect time to acknowledge those who work towards making Wyndham a better place to live, work, and play. She stated, “We’ve all met someone who goes above and beyond to serve our community, whether it be in our workplace, local community group, or sporting club.”
The Mayor also highlighted the various areas in which these community heroes may excel, such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sports, art, environment, and others. She emphasized the importance of recognizing these individuals, as they are often the last ones to put themselves forward.
The awards not only serve as a way to express gratitude but also provide support for the growth and advancement of young residents through the Young Citizen of the Year award. This category is open to residents aged 16-25, while the Citizen of the Year award is open to those aged 26 and above.
An independent judging panel will assess the nominations, and the winners will be announced in early 2025. Nominations for the Wyndham Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards will be accepted from 1 August to 15 September 2024.
