A driver was stopped at the Little River Checkpoint and stated he was travelling from Tarneit to Geelong for a job interview.
He could not provide any details or documentation regarding the interview and eventually admitted to police that his real reason for travel was to attend an electronics store in Geelong to collect a birthday present for his sister as his local store could not deliver it in time.
A total of 79 fines were issued to Victorians overnight for breaching Chief Health Officer directions, including 18 for failing to wear a face mask when leaving home for one of the four approved reasons, and 17 at vehicle checkpoints.
