Man Charged While On Bail
Detectives have arrested and remanded a man in Altona North after seizing a 3D printed firearm and heroin during two separate police operations.
Officers from the Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at an Altona North property last week. During the search, police located a 3D printed firearm along with various illegal drugs.
Residents had previously raised concerns about the address, reporting discarded syringes in the street and frequent short-term visits to the property.
Earlier this week, detectives returned to the area and observed an occupant leaving the address. Police followed the man and intercepted him shortly afterwards. During the arrest, officers allegedly located a small plastic bag of drugs concealed on his person.
A 54-year-old Altona North man was arrested and charged with prohibited person possess a firearm, possess heroin, traffick heroin, and commit an indictable offence whilst on bail.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before court at a later date.
Police are urging anyone with information about suspected drug activity in Hobsons Bay to contact Crime Stoppers.
