Last day for postal votes in Wyndham; results anticipated by mid-November.
Over 4.4 million Victorians received ballot packs since the 7th of October, initiating the final phase of the state’s electoral process. As of Thursday’s close of business, the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) reported a 61.33% return rate on these ballots.
Today, the last day for voting, sees the deadline for dropping off postal votes at election offices or mailing them by 6 pm, with the VEC accepting mail-in ballots until noon on Friday, 1st November.
Current figures show a voter turnout of 60.56% in the Wyndham Local Government Area (LGA) as of yesterday. The Quandong ward recorded the lowest turnout at 56.32%, while the Grange ward saw the highest at 66.46%. This year’s participation appears to lag behind the 81.47% turnout recorded statewide in 2020, with final numbers expected to be confirmed following the postal vote receipt deadline.

The VEC also addressed challenges in the distribution of ballot packs, including issues with non-receipt and address changes, ensuring over 100,000 replacement packs were delivered to updated addresses in collaboration with Australia Post.
The process of separating ballots from envelopes will commence tomorrow, with vote counting scheduled to start on Monday. The VEC aims to conduct most of the counting locally within each council and expects to declare all election results by Friday, 15th November.
