Deepshika’s unwavering commitment to assisting others is truly remarkable. She dedicates her time to volunteering at the Salvation Army on a weekly basis. Moreover, she recently took the initiative to host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in honor of her family and friends, all in an effort to raise funds for the Cancer Council.

Her passion for improving the lives of others extends to fostering inclusion through various means. Deepshika raises awareness and advocates for the betterment of First Nations people, migrant cultures, and the advancement of children’s literacy. She actively participates in her school’s RAP Reconciliation Action Plan committee at Mac Robertson High School, ensuring that Indigenous values are integrated into the school curriculum and community life.

Deepshika also contributes her time to the Student2Student reading program, which is designed to nurture and enhance the reading skills of underprivileged children.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, commends Deepshika’s significant contributions to the community through her voluntary efforts, noting that she serves as an inspiring role model and does active service in the community. Cr Susan McIntyre further added, “Deepshika is deeply considerate of others and is dedicated to volunteering to improve and help others that face difficult circumstances. Wyndham City extends its gratitude for the invaluable contributions Deepshika has made to both Wyndham and the broader community.”

One Wyndham recipients, targeting residents aged between 12 to 25, exemplify positive contributions to the Wyndham community, setting an example for their peers. Every month, the Council selects a resident for the “Young Person of the Month” award. Winners receive a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
