Driver allegedly flees after string of collisions

A 44-year-old Deer Park man has been arrested and remanded to face Werribee Magistrates’ Court today after police allege he collided with several vehicles on Duncans Road, Werribee South, before fleeing on foot when he was tracked down by one of his alleged victims.

Police are investigating a series of collisions in Werribee South on Thursday 20 August 2026. Emergency services were called to reports that a grey Kia hatch had collided with several cars on Duncans Road at about 5.00pm.

The alleged offending vehicle was then followed by one of the victims, a 46-year-old Waurn Ponds man, to Cherry Street in Werribee, where the alleged driver ran from the scene, dumping the Kia with its front passenger wheel missing.

Foot chase ends with public tip-off

The man allegedly ran to Synnot Street, where he attempted to hide inside an office. Victoria Police’s Air Wing was called in to assist with the search, and police were directed to his location by members of the public who had witnessed the pursuit.

A 44-year-old Deer Park man was arrested at the scene. No one was injured in any of the collisions.

He has been remanded to appear before Werribee Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 21 August 2026.

It follows a string of similar incidents across Wyndham’s roads this year, including a stolen car hit-run in Werribee in which the driver also fled on foot, and a police pursuit that ended with four arrests after a stolen car chase into Werribee.

Police appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collisions, has dashcam footage, or holds any information to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
