A fast-moving blaze destroyed a Point Cook home, with one child treated for smoke inhalation.
A devastating fire tore through a single-storey brick home on Boardwalk Boulevard in Point Cook yesterday evening, just before 6pm, leaving the property completely destroyed.
The blaze, believed to have started at the rear of the house, quickly spread, and by the time fire crews arrived on Willowherb Way alongside the property, the roof had already begun to collapse under the intense heat.
Multiple firefighting units responded to the scene in an effort to contain the fast-moving fire, but despite their efforts, the house was reduced to ruins. Thick smoke from the fire blanketed nearby properties, causing concern among residents.
A 12-year-old boy was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, though no serious injuries were reported. Neighbours expressed relief that the fire, while destructive, did not result in significant harm to the occupants or surrounding homes.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire. Emergency services remained on site, ensuring the area was safe while the investigation continues.
