Police attended a single-car crash in Point Cook on 27 December.
It’s believed a male crashed his car into a parked car on Middleton Drive at about 7.30 pm.
People nearby went to assist as the male driver allegedly attempted to run from the scene.
They pinned him to the ground and it is alleged he bit one of them.
The male driver remained pinned to the ground as a bystander rushed in to assist another male injured nearby.
Police arrived on the scene and were briefed by fire services and witnesses. Many bystanders were at the scene.
The injured male was taken to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
The male driver was breath tested then subsequently arrested, he was not treated for any injuries and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The vehicle which had New South Wales number plates suffered significant damage and was towed from the scene. The parked vehicle was also damaged.
