Witnesses at a local McDonalds spotted her walking away.
Police are investigating a crash that occurred at the roundabout on Point Cook Road and Jamieson Way in Point Cook around 1.15am on Monday, 5 May.
A ute was found badly damaged after hitting a wall and then spinning out between trees. One of the door skins was torn off in the impact with the rear of the vehicle also sustaining significant damage.
When officers arrived, the driver was nowhere to be seen. A short time later, a Point Cook woman was found nearby. Witnesses from a local McDonald’s store, who had just finished their shift, told police they saw her leaving the crash site and walking casually toward Sneydes Road.
Police intercepted her and, according to witnesses, she initially claimed she was “just walking past.” After questioning, she was arrested and taken to a local police station where she returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.138.
She is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other offences.
