Car wrecked, charges expected
Emergency services responded to a crash in Point Cook on Friday, 28 February, after a silver Toyota Corolla collided with a tree on Tom Roberts Parade at approximately 10:40 pm.
The driver, a 15-year-old girl from Point Cook, underwent a preliminary breath test at the scene, allegedly returning a positive result. She was taken to a police station for an evidentiary breath test, which allegedly recorded a reading of 0.122.
The girl is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences, dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, and other traffic-related offences.
All three passengers—two 14-year-old girls and a 15-year-old girl—appeared to have been drinking. One was seen lying on the footpath frequently, while another became emotional, telling paramedics, “I want to go home.” The driver was also visibly distressed, alternating between tears.
A man and woman, believed to be the driver’s parents, arrived at the scene and appeared unimpressed. The woman was heard saying, “Not good enough,” as she seemingly reprimanded the driver.
The Toyota sustained significant damage in the crash.
