A woman in her late 90s has died after a suspected fall at a home in Melbourne’s west, with police not treating the death as suspicious.
It is understood a suspected fall triggered an alarm at about 4.30am on 31 July, prompting a Triple Zero call.
Paramedics arrived at the property about 7.30am, almost three hours after the alert was raised, but were initially unable to access the home.
Fire Rescue Victoria crews later gained entry to the property, where the woman was found deceased. Victoria Police was called to the scene.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The incident has reignited debate over ambulance response times in Melbourne’s west, where population growth has fuelled ongoing calls for greater investment in emergency services and frontline resources.
In a statement, Ambulance Victoria said it had contacted the woman’s family and was reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the patient’s family and loved ones during this very sad time,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
“We have reached out to the patient’s family and are reviewing this case to fully understand the circumstances.
