Families in the West are gearing up for the much-anticipated return of Wyndham City’s Children’s Week Picnic, the ultimate outdoor event for families. Scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Werribee Park, this beloved annual gathering promises a day of fun and excitement from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While this event is free of charge, securing tickets is essential. Online ticket availability began at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 2. Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, encourages families to plan ahead and secure their tickets in advance.
This year’s Children’s Week Picnic boasts a thrilling lineup of performances and interactive activities designed to delight the entire family. Highlights include captivating acts such as The Teeny Tiny Stevies, uproarious comedy by The Listies and The Scientwits, the playful and buzzing Bees from Polyglot Theatre, and an abundance of amusement in the See Make Play marquee and the Active Kids Zone.
Mayor Cr Susan McIntyre emphasizes that the day is all about exploration and learning, with numerous opportunities for children to acquire new skills and have a blast with music, games, sports, workshops, and more.
Creative City Portfolio Holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud, shares that this year’s event will introduce fresh activities to enhance the experience. Notable additions include the H2O Arena, featuring the Super Amazing Dolphin Show and informative sessions about local waterways and water safety. The See Make Play marquee invites kids to get creative with headbands and paper flower crafting, while the Active Kids Zone offers a variety of sports, including baseball, disc golf, NRL, rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis, and lacrosse.
The event’s program also facilitates connections with council services, featuring the ever-popular mini Traffic School, a new Family and Children Hub within the Green explorer’s marquee for nature play, and the Youth Services Street Surfer Bus.
Families attending the picnic can indulge in delicious meals from onsite food trucks or opt to pack their own picnic to enjoy on the sprawling lawns.
Remember, bookings are a must for this event, and ticketholders who find themselves unable to attend are kindly asked to cancel their bookings to allow other families the opportunity to partake in this memorable experience.
