Experience 24 hours of live music, movies, art, and more at Wyndham City‘s newest festival! Chirnside Park in Werribee will be transformed for this free, 24 hour event that kicks off at 6pm on Saturday 6 May and runs through until 6pm on Sunday 7 May.
This exciting first for Melbourne‘s west will feature a live music stage, outdoor cinema, roving performances, light installations, and live art.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, is enthusiastic about the introduction of 24 to the events calendar. “This festival provides a unique opportunity to experience our city in a new way, with something new to enjoy each hour. We‘ve seen the success of events like LIT and we‘re sure 24 will be just as popular”, she said.
Creative City portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud, has encouraged residents to come and explore the many activities available. “The line–up will include a variety of music and dance from around the world, such as Ethiopian roots and reggae from Nhatty Man, indie rock from Berkley, master of the kora Amadou Souso and Friends, local hip hop artist NOMAD, and Wurundjeri dance group the Djirri Djirri. During the day and early evening there will be high energy performances, then from 11pm–9am the atmosphere will switch to a more ambient and magical one with glowing light installations”.
The 24–Hour Outdoor Cinema will provide a back–to–back program of cult classics such as Back to the Future, Groundhog Day and more (headphones provided).
There will also be a range of food trucks, or visitors can pack a picnic to enjoy. See the full program and plan your visit to this free, 24 event at www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/24.
