In short:
Victorians now have until 31 August to apply for the State Government’s 20 per cent vehicle registration rebate. Eligible motorists can claim up to $186 per vehicle, or up to $372 for two eligible vehicles, if their registration was paid between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026.
Rego Rebate Extended To August
Victorians will have an extra month to apply for the State Government’s 20 per cent vehicle registration rebate, with the application deadline extended from 31 July to 31 August.
The rebate provides eligible motorists with up to $186 back for one vehicle, or up to $372 for two eligible vehicles, depending on the number of claims made. More than 3.6 million Victorians have already accessed the program since it was introduced.
The rebate is available to owners of light vehicles registered for personal use and applies whether registration was paid in a single annual payment or by instalments.
To be eligible, motorists must have paid the registration for a light vehicle between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026. Claims can be made for up to two eligible vehicles registered in the same person’s name.
The extension gives motorists who have not yet applied another month to access the rebate before applications close at the end of August.
Eligible Victorians can submit their application through the Service Victoria app or online via the Service Victoria website.
The rebate was introduced as part of the Victorian Government’s cost-of-living measures and remains available only to eligible registrations paid during the specified 12-month period.
With the deadline now extended, motorists who have not yet claimed are encouraged to check their eligibility and submit an application before 31 August to avoid missing out on the rebate.
