The first burn started at 10:30am along the Werribee RP – Werribee River Trail, around 4km south of Werribee. The second began at 2:00pm at the Werribee RP – Werribee River, located about 5km southeast of the township.

Crews are on site lighting the burns and will remain in place to monitor conditions and patrol the perimeter to keep fire within control lines. In grassland areas, smoke and flames may be visible for several hours. Larger or forested zones may take longer to ignite fully.

FFMVic says, “Some planned burns are carried out in stages. Crews may return later to complete the area, with further notifications issued if needed.”

Residents are reminded that ember spotting can occur over short distances and crews are actively monitoring for any spread.
