Firefighters were called to Alsace Avenue and arrived at around 6.15pm, within minutes of receiving the call, to find the single-storey home well involved in fire.
Crews forced entry into the house, where they found the roof at the rear of the home fully involved.
Firefighters searched the property and confirmed the family of three who lives at the home was not there at the time.
Crews worked to contain the blaze, with the fire declared under control within 50 minutes.
The home sustained significant damage as a result of the fire.
Specialist Fire Rescue Victoria investigators will examine the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
The family has since sourced alternative accommodation.
