Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to a neighbouring unit. All occupants had evacuated safely to the front of the property, and no injuries were reported from the fire.
During the response, a man was assaulted outside the premises, reportedly punched in the face. It remains unclear what prompted the altercation. The fire was declared under control at 12:35 am, with four appliances and 20 firefighters attending. Despite the quick response, the residence suffered significant damage.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, with investigations ongoing. Victoria Police supported FRV’s operations at the scene.
