At 12:19 pm, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to reports of a structure fire on Morris Road in Hoppers Crossing. Multiple calls to Triple 000 alerted authorities to smoke emanating from a garage.
Arriving at 12:23 pm, FRV found a single-story brick veneer house with an attached garage billowing thick smoke. Although firefighters observed no visible flames, the situation was intense.
Efforts were focused on containing the incident to the garage, successfully preventing its spread to the house. Thankfully, there were no occupants present inside the dwelling at the time.

Given the presence of numerous solar panels on the roof and a battery, power and gas companies were promptly contacted to shut off services as a safety precaution. Energy Safe Victoria and a Building Surveyor were also called in to assess the scene.
By 1:03 pm, FRV had the situation under control. However, suspicions surrounding the incident prompted Victoria Police to investigate further, leading them to attend the scene.
Morris Road was closed in one direction while the operation took place.
