The Western Football Netball League under-18 division one grand final between Newport and Sunshine was held at Chirnside Park in Werribee on September 20. Newport secured the premiership with a 13-point victory, but the celebrations quickly descended into chaos.

Footage obtained shows one person approach Sunshine players before swinging a punch, sparking a wider confrontation. Pushing and shoving followed, with additional video capturing both players and spectators involved in the scuffle while others attempted to separate them.

During the incident, a child was reportedly knocked over but was not seriously injured. Players, spectators and officials were still on the ground following the conclusion of the match when the scuffle broke out.

Police were called to the scene after reports of fighting, however by the time officers arrived the crowd had dispersed. Authorities are continuing enquiries into whether any offences occurred.
