Four Children Die in Werribee House Fire.


Four children have died in a fire that tore through a house in Werribee this morning.

Police said investigators were told the fire started at the house on Mantello Drive in Werribee shortly after 1:00am.

Thick black smoke was seen pouring from the brick home.

The four children were all unaccounted for early on Sunday morning.

Police have confirmed that the four children, two boys aged 3 and 10 years, and two girls aged 1 and 6 years, died in the blaze.

Arson Squad detectives will prepare a report for the Coroner which is normal procedure for any fatal house fire.

It took about 40 firefighters just under an hour to bring the fire under control.
