In short:
Free community health checks will run across Wyndham on 29 October, helping residents assess their risk of stroke, heart disease and diabetes. The sessions, hosted with IPC Health, aim to boost local health awareness and prevention.
Preventative health checks for free
Wyndham City Council has partnered with IPC Health to deliver free community health checks across Wyndham in recognition of International Stroke Day on 29 October.
Registered nurses will be available at three local community centres to provide free checks and professional advice, helping residents understand their risk factors for stroke, heart disease and diabetes.
No bookings are needed, with residents encouraged to drop in for a quick and confidential assessment.
Health services on offer include blood pressure and blood glucose checks with a nurse, diabetes assessments with a Diabetes Educator, information on the National Lung Cancer Screening test, and access to a Living Well clinician to discuss smoking cessation support.
Wyndham mayor Cr Mia Shaw said the initiative is about making preventive care accessible and convenient.
“We know that prevention is key when it comes to serious health conditions like stroke. By offering these free checks locally, we’re making it easier for our community to take a proactive approach to their health,” she said.
Cr Shaw encouraged anyone who hasn’t had a recent GP visit to attend one of the sessions.
Residents can access the health checks at:
9am – 10.30am: Point Cook Community Learning Centre
11am – 12.30pm: Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre
1.30pm – 3pm: Penrose Promenade Community Centre
