Free screen time parenting session on 18 June. Hosted at Williams Landing Library and online. Includes expert tips and advice for local families.
Wyndham City Libraries is set to host a free parenting program, aimed at providing parents with advice and strategies to manage their children’s screen time. The event will take place on Wednesday, 18 June 2025 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Williams Landing Library Lounge and also online.
The program, titled “Managing Screen Time”, is designed to support families with young children navigating the digital age. It will feature Kate Mannell from Digital Child & Deakin University Research, who will share evidence-based insights and resources.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Mia Shaw encourages parents, carers, and families to participate. “The free 60-minute program will provide parents and carers of preschool and primary school aged children with advice and practical tips on managing the daily screen time challenges,” she said.
In addition to providing tips on setting screen time limits and encouraging other play-based activities, the program will also offer an opportunity for parents to connect with others facing similar challenges.
“This talk will give parents and carers an overview of navigating screen time challenges with young children,” Shaw said. “The talk will be an interesting and informative session where parents and carers will take away practical tools to help them manage and improve their children’s screen time and lead to calmer and happier family time.”
