The Werribee based electrical company was named the winner of the Outstanding Service & Trade Award at the West Melbourne Local Business Awards, held at The Langham Melbourne.

The prestigious event brought together around 250 finalists from businesses across Melbourne’s west, with Cortal Electrical facing strong competition from around 13 other finalists within its category.

For Corey, the recognition was particularly meaningful.

“There is nothing more rewarding than being recognised by your community for something you’ve put your heart and soul into since day one.”

Cortal Electrical was established by Corey after working as an A Grade electrician for a local electrical company.

With a desire to build something of his own, Corey took the leap into business and began growing Cortal Electrical from the ground up.

What started as a vision to provide reliable, quality electrical services has grown into a well known Werribee business servicing residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout Melbourne’s West.

But for Corey, running an electrical business has always been about more than simply completing a job.

It’s about earning the trust of customers, providing quality workmanship and building relationships within the local community.

“Starting a business from nothing isn’t easy,” Corey said.

“There have been plenty of long days and plenty of challenges along the way, but moments like this make you realise why you started in the first place.”

Today, Cortal Electrical provides a wide range of electrical services, including residential electrical work, commercial and industrial projects, switchboard upgrades, safety switches, lighting, CCTV, EV chargers, smoke alarm and emergency exit checks, air conditioning, shop fit-outs and electrical repairs.

The company also provides emergency electrical services, supporting customers when they need an electrician outside of standard business hours.

While the business has continued to grow, Corey remains heavily involved in the day-to-day operation of Cortal Electrical and still spends time working on the tools.

He also has a strong focus on developing the next generation of electricians, with training apprentices and helping young people build a career in the electrical industry being an important part of the company’s future.

For Cortal Electrical, the award is therefore recognition not only of the business itself, but of the people behind it.

Corey’s wife and family have also played an important role in the journey, supporting the business behind the scenes as it has grown.

The company’s success has been built through a combination of hard work, word-of-mouth recommendations and a commitment to creating a positive experience for customers.

And for a local business, being recognised by other businesses and members of the community makes the achievement even more significant.
