Upgrade to Werribee's Tennis Facilities
Werribee’s Galvin Park tennis courts have undergone a significant $1.5 million renovation, funded by Wyndham City. The project involved a comprehensive reconstruction of courts 1 to 4, which had been severely affected by tree root damage, rendering them increasingly unplayable.

The project also saw courts 5 to 8 resurfaced, with new fencing and lighting installed to improve functionality and safety for evening use. A new concrete path was laid to upgrade the walkway between the courts, and a water fountain was installed for the convenience of players and visitors.
Additionally, a new book-a-court system has been introduced to facilitate easier access to the facilities for both Werribee Central Tennis Club members and the general public. These improvements mark the completion of the Galvin Park Master Plan, which also included a redevelopment of soccer pitches 1 to 4 and ovals 2 and 3; refurbishment of the tennis, soccer, and AFL/netball/cricket pavilions; additional car parking; and a playground redevelopment.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, praised the redevelopment of the tennis courts as a “game-changing upgrade” that would serve the Werribee Central Tennis Club and the broader community for many years. “This significant investment reinforces a commitment to local sport and community wellbeing, and ensures Galvin Park remains a premier destination for tennis in the region,” she said.
Cr Shaw also highlighted the benefits of the rebuilt and resurfaced courts, saying they “ensure the Werribee community have safe and high-quality playing surfaces for years to come, while new lighting, landscaping, and other amenities allow for increased use of these fantastic courts.”
Jennie Barrera, Wyndham City’s Heathdale Ward Councillor, also welcomed the completion of the Galvin Park tennis court redevelopment, calling it “ace news for tennis lovers” and promising an “enhanced training and playing experience for those that use the space.”
