Wyndham City is reaching out to men aged 18 and above living or working in the West, and is offering a free 10–week health program that has a holistic approach to improving their physical and mental well-being.
In partnership with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation and Western Leisure Services, the program will be held at Eagle Stadium, and is dedicated to helping men acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Cr Peter Maynard, who is the Active City portfolio holder, has said: “The Sons of the West program is a great opportunity for men of all fitness levels. It makes exercise and healthy eating fun and easier to incorporate into everyday life.
The program also encourages people to start visiting doctors, dentists, and other specialized services, like counselling or physiotherapy, as a regular part of their health routine.”
The two–hour weekly sessions are interactive and informative, so participants will get the chance to learn about a variety of topics that could affect them and their families.
Cr Maynard encourages men who want to make positive changes to their lives to come along and take part in Sons of the West.
It is a great way to meet new friends and take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle.
The program will run from Wednesday 8 March for 10 weeks. Two sessions are available: one in the afternoon from 11am to 1.30pm and the other in the evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The program is funded by Council and sponsored by WorkSafe Victoria and cohealth, Watergardens.
