The initiative is expected to generate around 100 new jobs over the next three years, with roles available for data engineers, solution architects, and technical analysts.

Founded in 1986, Sonata Software has grown into a global leader in digital transformation, serving industries such as retail, manufacturing, healthcare, telecom, and financial services. The company’s decision to establish its Centre of Excellence in Melbourne reflects Victoria’s reputation for world-class technology infrastructure, innovation, and talent.

The new Centre will focus on meeting the growing demand for generative AI and data solutions within Australia’s retail and manufacturing sectors. By leveraging expertise from Victoria’s leading education institutions, the Centre aims to enhance research and development capabilities.

The company also plans to recruit talent through the Labor Government’s Digital Jobs program, which supports workers transitioning into digital roles.

Victoria’s tech sector, which contributed $35.6 billion to the state’s economy in 2023 and employs nearly 280,000 workers across 22,000 businesses, will benefit from this new partnership, reinforcing the state’s position as a hub for technological innovation.
