In short:
Green-lid FOGO bins begin rolling out next week in Wyndham for households that do not already have one, with deliveries continuing through February and March 2026. Homes with an existing green-lid bin will see no change to their service.
FOGO Roll Out Continues
From next week, Wyndham City Council begins delivering green-lid Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) bins to households that do not already have one.
The rollout is part of a broader recycling reform introduced by the Victorian Government to reduce waste, improve recycling and prepare councils for mandatory statewide standards.
During February and March 2026, Wyndham households that receive a council waste service but do not yet have a green-lid bin will receive a FOGO bin, a kitchen caddy and a paper caddy liner sample pack, delivered to the front of their property.
Households that already have a green-lid bin will see no change.
Residents receiving a new bin are encouraged to bring it onto their property as soon as it arrives, read the information provided and begin using the green-lid bin and kitchen caddy immediately.
FOGO bins are collected fortnightly on the same day as household garbage, but on the opposite week to yellow-lid recycling. If it is not recycling week, it is FOGO week.
Organics include food scraps, grass clippings, leaves and small branches — anything that has grown naturally. Man-made items such as plastic pots, hoses and packaging must not go in the green-lid bin.
All Victorian councils are required to provide FOGO services to eligible households by June 2027.
Residents can check their collection schedule through MyWyndham or by downloading the waste and recycling collection map from council’s website.
