There’s fun for everyone in Tarneit this summer – it’s all about markets, movies, cultural and fitness activities.
A vibrant series of twilight markets will be held every third Friday of the month until March 2023 at Dianella Community Centre, 6 Congo Dr, Tarneit.
There’ll be 40-plus stalls to explore that will be selling everything from mouth-watering treats to exquisite artisan jewellery to mention just a few of the delights on offer.
Locals can also enjoy free movies from 3 December 2022 to 1 April 2023 at various parks in Tarneit. There will be food trucks on site so pack a picnic rug and grab some dinner with the family.
Arrive right on 5pm to enjoy pre-movie entertainment like roving performers or Nintendo on the big screen. Family friendly movie titles include Arthur Christmas, Hop and Lego Movie 2 among others.
A Kite Festival will be held 15 January 2023 at Hummingbird Reserve, Tarneit.
Kite flying is a traditional way to celebrate the Festival of Uttarayan in India, a festival that marks the changing of the seasons.
There’ll be kite making workshops, kites for sale, cultural performances, dance workshops and DJ’s will spin a mix of western and Bollywood tracks to keep crowds entertained. There will also be authentic, traditional foods available to enjoy.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre said the captivating Firefly Night Market attracted more than 13,000 people to Penrose Promenade Park in Tarneit when it was held the winter of 2022 and it will return 24 June next year.
“It will be another lighting extravaganza to be remembered,” she said.
“The Tarneit Revitalisation Program champions projects to create a Tarneit that is cherished by locals for its active public spaces, a vibrant civic heart and expanding business ecosystem,” she said.
Wyndham City’s Creative City portfolio holder Cr Mahfoud said: “The Meet me in Tarneit series is a free Wyndham City event series delivered by the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program in partnership with the Victorian Government.”
