Budget Now Open For Feedback

Wyndham City Council has endorsed its 2026–27 draft budget for public consultation, setting out proposed spending across infrastructure, services and community projects.

The draft budget includes a $178.5 million capital works program, alongside an operating surplus of $264.1 million when including developer contributions, grants and gifted assets.

More than $152 million is proposed for infrastructure, covering roads, open space, community facilities and streetscape upgrades.

Key projects include upgrades in Werribee’s Watton Street precinct, park improvements and ongoing community infrastructure renewal.

Rates are proposed to rise in line with the state government cap of 2.75 per cent.

The municipal charge would increase to $72.25 per property, while the waste charge is set to rise to $487, reflecting higher service delivery costs and the rollout of new bin services.

Council states the budget is designed to balance spending with long-term financial sustainability, with a target to reach a break-even underlying position within four years.

The plan also outlines the potential for up to $52 million in new borrowings to support major projects, subject to future council decisions.

The draft budget covers the period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 and will guide service delivery, capital investment and strategic priorities if adopted.

Wyndham City Council is now seeking community feedback on the Draft Annual Plan and Budget via The Loop, with public exhibition open from 29 April 2026 to 26 May 2026.

Residents can view the document and make submissions at https://theloop.wyndham.vic.gov.au/budget-202627.

Following the consultation period, the final budget is scheduled to be considered for adoption at the 23 June 2026 council meeting.
