This annual event offers the council a chance to recognise, appreciate, and thank local emergency service personnel and volunteers.

AV staff attended alongside members of other agencies, including Victoria Police, Fire Services Victoria, State Emergency Services, Red Cross, and the Salvation Army.

Bruce King, a Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) Paramedic with AV, attended for the second time and expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“It’s a privilege to be nominated and it’s certainly good of the council to show their appreciation for the emergency services and volunteer roles in the area,” he said.

“It’s also a great opportunity to catch up with the other emergency services, reflect on jobs we have attended together and get an insight into the challenges they face.”

AV Senior Team Manager Eliza Drysdale, one of the event’s two guest speakers, spoke about women in leadership, the significance of interagency cooperation, and recent community engagement efforts by local branches.

The AV nominees included MICA Paramedic Bruce King, Acting Senior Team Manager Blixa Webster, and Paramedics Sean Stinson, Superanse Nduwarugira, Laura De Witt, and Steve Ruffell.
